THE IMPORTANCE OF BOOK REVIEWS – Since I publish my own books, for the past few days, I’ve been wearing one of my “least favorite hats.” That is, compiling all the year-end records in terms of, like, Total Sales per book, Total Sales for all books, Total Reviews per book, etc. Having just finished this tedious task, I find myself mostly grateful for all my readers and how abundantly kind they have been to me throughout the year.
Here are some General Stats:
1. Avg # of Amazon Reviews/book = 30-50
2. Avg # of Readers who leave Reviews = Less than 5% (1 in 20)
3. Avg # of Annual Sales for Self-published Books = 275
Here are my Stats (how my Readers have Treated Me):
1. Avg # of Amazon Reviews /book = 2,300 (57 x higher than avg)
2. Avg. # of My Readers who leave Reviews = 20% (1 in 5)
3. Avg # of Annual Sales per book = 1,350 (5 x higher than avg – keep in mind, this average is made lower by factoring in all the older books. For the newer books, the average is way higher than this. My most recent book, released at Thanksgiving, by itself is 7 x higher in just 2 months).
This is amazing to me. Thank you SO much, all of you who’ve bought copies of my books in 2024 (or downloaded them on Kindle Unlimited), and ESPECIALLY those of you who’ve left Ratings or Reviews.
Every Author will tell you…Reviews are by far the most important factor in helping to draw in New Readers to consider buying your books.
Because of all of you, once again, I can write full time for another year (that’s 15 years in a row).
